VOORHEES--BIG SKY Enterprises, LLC, a Northeast commercial design and build firm, has announced that, despite the economic downturn that continued to oppress the commercial real estate sector at large in 2010, year-to-date it has achieved multiple corporate milestones, including securing 6 large-scale commercial financing and construction contracts.

"Looking forward to 2011, we are forecasting to have our best year yet," says Ryan Regina of BIG SKY Enterprises, a developer in N.J.

Regina says seven years ago, 25 percent of BIG SKY's projects was building churches. Now it's 80 percent. "What we see in various builders' magazines, there seems to be a steady increase in church construction."

The green vehicle movement is trucking along at Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). A few days ago, the company marked the production of its 1,000th hybrid electric vehicle with a celebration at its Mt. Holly, N.C., plant. The 1,000th vehicle -- a Freightliner Business Class M2 106 Hybrid truck -- is manufactured at the Mt. Holly location.

KERN COUNTY, CA — Colliers International, the second largest real estate services organization globally, has negotiated the disposition of a 351,723-square-foot single tenant, fulfillment and distribution center at the Tejon Industrial Complex I(top left photo)n Kern County, Calif. to a New York City- based institutional group.

The transaction is valued at $23.85 million.

“I’m starting to see some movement, nothing major because we’re still dealing with the condition of the casino industry,” said Richard Baehrle, a commercial real estate specialist with Prudential Fox & Roach of Northfield. “Construction remains slow, but we’re starting to see signs of new businesses coming in.”

Small numbers of new developments are starting or being acquired, while the main target for investors remains existing, revenue-producing businesses.
